Just a little late... by rachel

HAPPY TURKEY DAY TO ALL!!! Driving home Tuesday evening made it hit home that some of my favorite people in the whole world will be walking out of my everyday life in a matter of weeks. Wow. So, without delay, I want the world to know how much these people mean to me... Hannah, Clay, Booger, Chuck, Jaime... none of that corny mush.... just know that I love each of you from the bottom of my heart (ok, ok, it's a little mushy).... and that I will never forget the times here at Berea. My conscience won't let me. ;) Muhahahaha.

Brain child (by us both, but see if you can guess who's typing!)

So, we found a new word for boobs: Chesticles. Like testicles, except not.

On Thursday night we parted ways. *Gasp!* Hannah got sucked into going bowling again, and Rachel deviated from the norm and went to...a gay bar! Let's hear from Rachel about how that experience was for her. Rachel?
Rachel: It was quite an experience. I got to see a good friend do drag, I saw a drag king that looked like Meg Ryan, and I saw a few lap dances. Great fun!
Hannah: Let me talk too! The bowling alley was...the bowling alley, except this time it was glow in the dark!
So that was Thursday, when Rachel AND Hannah ended up babysitting drunk friends and driving home from Richmond.

Friday was a SPECIAL day. We went to see Ryan Adams in Cincinnati!! Wooot. Despite a less than appealing opening act (he played two chords for an hour...), the show was GREAT. We have never seen a singer of such goodness be so drunk on stage. And he had an ash tray on his microphone stand. But he was beautiful, and he played like...4 instruments . The ride home was just more exciting (we got a little lost). We stopped in Lexington to see all of our friends at the party that once was Richelle's birthday party, but by the time we got there all of our friends were enlightened and there was still beer left to be drunk. Being the only sober people there with three cars and a buttload of people that needed to get back to Berea, we were the good Samaritans and drove everyone back. Rachel was in Flem's car, with no gas, a passed out Flem, and a talkative Ryan. Kate was in her car with Lindsey, Eric and Richelle, who all went to sleep, and Hannah was in Kinley's car with OutKast and a passed out Kinley. It was...great. By the time we got to Berea all of our intoxicated friends were about to DIE as were we...and then we had fun trying to get Eric out of Kate's car....it was a night to be remembered.

Last night was our Homecoming. We vetoed the dance and went to Ryan's (banjo Ryan's, not the buffet restaurant) and Mario's (also not the restaurant). The night was full of Cranium and Chess Pieces.
Favorite moment of the night: We were sitting in Mario's tiny living room playing Cranium. Jonas was apparantly getting bored with the game, and Hannah looks up to hear him singing "I like my chess piece...almost as much as I like you" and then sticking a poor little pawn into his bellybutton. For no apparant reason (He told us later "it looked cool.").

Oh, and Jesse is here! That made the whole weekend better.

We are leaving shortly...we hope...for dinner with the boys, which are pathetic about calling back apparantly...then more homework.

Happy Sunday!

Shake and Shake by Shake and Shake

Last night was Wednesday. Wednesday is usually (for most people and that means NOT HANNAH) a fun night, because most people (again, not Hannah) don't have class on Thursday, or at least not early.

Hannah had the brilliant idea to make prank phone calls at about 10. We started with Jonas. We used "Microsoft Michael-" the computer voice- and made him say something like "Hey sexy, I love you, I love you. Call me, call me, call me soon" and then we left somebody's number that...wasn't ours. Next came Clay (he was the most fun). He answered his phone with his usual "Moshi moshi?" and we played "Microsoft Michelle" saying about the same thing but giving somebody else's number...once again, not ours. He died laughing, and when we called him again a few minutes later with another message from Michelle (this one was something like "you know you want to") he repeated the number back and was like "Thanks!" We attempted to call Jaime but Hannah forgot to put the *67 (that blocks her number) before she dialed his number and pretty much blew that one. We called some other people that weren't as much fun, and then Hannah decided to call Clay back and see what he and Jonas were doing, since they just got out of their play. They had already guessed it was us calling, but it was still fun. Hannah is a horrible liar.

Then we went bowling. Kate was on the phone in our room and by the time she got off the phone she had somehow been transported to Richmond to the bowling alley and she didn't know what was going on. We believe her exact words were "WTF?" Before we could actually GO to the bowling alley, Clay had to "clean" out his van (nicknamed "the fun wagon"). His cleaning pretty much consisted of him throwing stuff that was in the front seats into the back seat. That took a few minutes. THEN we went bowling, and man, did we bowl. Rachel ALMOST broke 100! And Hannah used bumpers. We played three "speed" rounds because we didn't start until about 11 and the place closes at 12. On one lane we had the "real" bowlers: Nader, Ryan, and Josh (whose name we will not type). On the other lane we had Mystic (OH WOW), Muffin, IntoxiKate, Two Boot, and Wang! On the fun lane we had "theme" rounds. One round we had to Granny bowl and one round we had bowl between our legs, just not forwards. The guys from the other lane kindly helped Rachel out, since she's so short. Not that that has anything to do with it. We just wanted to share.

After that we went to Steak and Shake and some of us *ahem* made the waitress uncomfortable with odd requests (like "do you have an extra tie?"). Clay got a nasty combination milkshake thing with eggnog and white chocolate. Yummm. With three m's. While waiting at the Takhomeasak (??) thing, which is next to the highly important and highly used Faxasak station, we all got gumballs, which was maybe not such a good idea.

Before we could go home Clay had to clean some more because we had two more passengers and the trip home was long for Rachel (wink), but Hannah defended her from poking fingers!

Princess Booger and Uncle Jaime...awww Posted by Hello

What a weekend, by us both. (P.S. IT'S HANNAH'S TURN TO TYPE. PLEASE FORGIVE ME.

Well, we're really tired, so this might just not be as fun as our "normal" (haha, anything but) posts (or pots, whichever you prefer.) We just wanted to share our fantastical weekend with...all of...you. Who read our blog.
Friday was a normal day, pretty much. You know, classes, work (for those of us that do WORK!!! HANNAH not rachel.), that sort of thing. Friday night we went to the play, "Metamorphoses," that is playing at the college theater right now. The theater is actually called the "BEREA COLLEGE THEATER LABORATORY" which Hannah thinks sounds really cool. So, you know, our friends are in this play, and they were fantastic. And they wore lots of eye makeup, and not much clothes (wink, wink). And Rachel had a hot date :) She really did, let us just tell you. Anyway, that worked out well, and Stephen, Clay, and Jonas were great. Rachel's favorite part was when...Jonas acted like a dog. And that's just what Hannah was going to say too, so that was both of our favorite parts. Yeah. (uncomfortable grammar silence)
On to Saturday. Rachel had choir rehearsal for THREE HOURS, then we went to the Mexican Hardee's and got the creepy waiter again. We had an all around good time, and CommuniKate drank COLD cheese dip through a STRAW. Can we say peer pressure?????
We then attempted to do homework, which didn't work, and we made cards for Richard, Booger and Jaime for their respective birthdays. Richard's had a person assembled out of various magazine pictures and had the age old wisdom "Tattoo your dog" inside. Booger's featured a very well crafted, scaaary old lady Pepsi bottle woman/beauty pageant contestant. Scary. And Jaime's was backwards and featured a talking zebra asking "Did you get your tickets?" The inside said "To Jaime's birthday party!" Haha.
Saturday night we up and went LexingTON, where Rachel spent a whole quarter on a gumball that hurt her jaw, and Hannah found the dress of her dreams. Best moment: Hannah was wearing her "i heart dave barnes." t-shirt, which she acquired at the Murfreesboro Goodwill but has no idea who Dave Barnes is. We went into a great store called Cosmic, and one of the little straight edge duders working there comes running up to tell her excitedly that his dad is Dave Barnes!!! He even showed us his driver's license to prove it. It's a small world after all...sing it with us...you know you want to...
From there we went to pee at someplace that wouldn't let Hannah in to pee.
aND THEN. wE WENT BACK TO bEREA. oKAY, eNOUgH Of ThAT.
We came back here, got ready for the partaay (this included Megan spraying over half a bottle of hairspray on Hannah's fantastic hairstyle. That was fun.).
Rachel wants to say one thing about the party: She had a really good time. WINK.
Hannah has more than one thing to say about the party...but she won't.
Best moments
Rachel: Alllll of them
Hannah: Not...all of them.
Rachel: Booger's fantastic princess outfit, which included a tiara and glitter. When Lindsey tried to make Flem leave, but he got severely distracted by the CHEESE. The Hannah-Jonas cheese pass off, in which half a piece of cheese got stuck to Hannah's big toe.
Hannah: Experiencing some more of Clay's great mixers and ALMOST DYING. Eating grapes by the bunch. Making a necklace out of some rope lights. Oh...my all time, absolute, can't beat it favorite thing in the world....THE MONKEY IN THE FAN GAME. I hadn't played in a long time...but I am still superior!!!! If that game was in the Olympics, I'd be a gold medalist (wink). Watching Jonas and Clinton wrestle, then get mad and go upstairs because they had to stop. And then, it continues to this morning when Josh shows up to get his keys, with a feather and a hubcap to thank me for my troubles.
Today Hannah (and the rest of Berea College!) had the opportunity to go see Rachel and her band (AKA the Berea College Concert Choir) perform. They were FANTASTIC. Way to go Rachel, Kate, Keith, Stephen, Kara, AP, William, Beki and everybody else. You were awesome and I was proud :)
And now, we are tired. Wouldn't you be too?????

Meal worms...yummm? Posted by Hello

all in a days work? by rachel

Yesterday, in Food Science, we studied entemophagy. Yes. Entemophagy. The eating of insects. After watching a video or two to whet our appetite and show us that we are a minority in the world (most other countries consume insects as a source of protein daily), we partook. Is partook even a word? Anyway, first we had "chirping chex mix" which was your normal chex mix with seasoned cricket parts mixed in. Jess and I pumped ourselves up and threw back the dixie cup. It's better to get it all down at once, right? Well, all the heavier pieces filled our mouth first (the chex mix) and the rest settled to the bottom of the cup (the cricket bits). So I ate all the cricket bits by themselves. Jessica got a cricket apendage stuck in her teeth.

Next came an informational power point to get us prepared, as well as a reading from Clay from some book about bug eating, and then came the chocolate covered meal worms. They were a bit crunchy, but all you could taste was the bittersweet chocolate. Finally, we had wax worm rice pudding. That was probably the hardest to get down. It didn't taste any different than rice pudding, except that the wax worms were like long, white raisins. With eyes. Ugh.

I did it though. I ate it all.

Choir yesterday was awesome. We almost had our director in tears because we actually LISTENED and SANG. I was uber proud.

I had Creative Nonfiction last night too. It was a long, fairly boring class, as usual. After class, my prof. came up to me and said she needed to talk to me about something. I racked my brain for reasons why. What stupid thing had I done now? Turns out I have been invited to be a part of the Honor's Society of Phi Kappa Phi, which is apparently a great honor as a junior. I still don't know what to think about it... I'm kinda floored.

Then, I came back to the room and hung out with Booger and Han (happy birthday booger and jennie!!) and read while they watched the Country Music Awards. :-P Later on, ForniKate came over and showed us the video of her mullet speech for her speech class. That girl knows entirely too much about mullets. And for those of you who were wondering, mullet watching in Wal-Mart is a sport.

MORE birthday fun by hannah and rachel

We want to take a moment to specially point out the birthday of our dear friend Richard, cause he will boycott us if we don't. We love you!

birthdays all around by rachel

Happy Happy Birthday to my best friend and soul sister, Kathryn. You are no longer a teenager! May the next 20 be just as great!

Lots of other people's b-days are this week too.... Jennie, Booger, Jaime, Brett and Richard... crazy. Happy birthday to all of you, and lots of love.

You know, I was trying to figure out why so many birthdays fell so closely together. Then I realized what 9 months ago was.... the infamous Valentine's Day. That explains sooo much. Muhahahaha.

On our way home...by Hannah

I'm going home tomorrow...last time before Thanksgiving break! I can't believe we're this close to the end of the semester and me leaving for England. It's insane. I'm excited, but I can hardly stand the thought of coming back and so many people not being here anymore. This semester has been weird enough without some people around (both Jesses!) and it's only gonna get weirder! But I guess that's just how it goes...come January we're going to be spread all over the world. I guess that's really cool in a way. I'm proud of my friends.
Last night was spectacular- we had an impromptu get together in celebration of Lindsey and I both getting accepted into our study abroad programs in our respective countries (England and Costa Rica). Big thanks to Ryan for being our last minute host. We bought champagne (Thanks Keith...you're one hottt DLW) and went to Wal Mart to get plastic champagne glasses, which they did not have. Instead we got plastic cups and I got Lindsey and I martini glasses. By the time we got around to pouring the champagne I couldn't remember WHY I had been possessed to buy martini glasses for the CHAMPAGNE.
I just want to thank my fantastic, fabulous friends who came and congratulated Lindsey and I. You guys are awesome...I would take you all with me if I could...
Thanks to Rachel, Keith and Kate for the liquor run and for being the other Sex and the City gals with me. No matter what anyone says, I will always think of you three as Charlotte, Samantha, and Smirantha, and whenever I hear "Kiss it, kiss it, spank it" I will inevitably be thinking of you guys. Also, I just need to say
I'm a cat, I'm a kitty cat, and I dance dance dance and I dance dance dance...I'm a cat (WINK)
Thanks to Megan for being a rubber band at my command ;) It was spectacular.
...and thanks to Alicia B for whistling at me tonight. You are so HOTTTTT.

yay! by rachel

I just want to take the time to say that I love my best friend, Kathryn... she rocks my face off.

Also, today is the day when we decide where this country of ours is going for the next four years, so take up your responsibility proudly and VOTE!

In Food Science, we watched "Supersize Me"... I don't think I am ever going to be able to eat McDonald's again. Blah!
